Arrived Sydney 1838 and lived with his Grandfather, Alexander McLeay. To England 1841. Saw service with the Anti Slavery Patrols, Returned to Australia as ships company HMS Iris (Flagship Australia Station 1859-60) onboard HMS Herald during hydrographic survey of Torres Strait and Shark Bay.
