Notes

Governor Bligh's son in law. Originally buried in the Old Sydney Burial Ground, George Street (site of the present day Sydney own Hall), Putland was later reburied in the Devonshire Street Cemetery. On 03 September 1901, his coffin was again exhumed and reburied in Camperdown Cemetery. A witness to the second exhumation noted that the coffin was made of lead and the inscription was cut into the lid. I was informed on a tour that the headstone was found by accident in the carport of the Vicarage and placed in its current location.
