Notes
John fought and was wounded at the battle of Te Ranga, in the Maori Wars. Also served with the Duke of Edinburgh on H.M.S. Galatea. He was present during the attempt on the Duke's life at the Clontarf Pleasure Ground on the 12th of March 1868.
