Notes

According to the NSW Office of Heritage and Environment, William Ogilvie was a junior officer serving with Admiral Nelson at the Battle of Copenhagen. He migrated to Australia in 1825 and took up land and established the property "Merton" near Denman in the Hunter Valley. If the Service Certificate from UK archives is correct William was not on the books of HMS Elephant (Nelson's ship at Copenhagen) that DOESN’T mean he wasn’t lent. MF
