Notes
I went to Melbourne General Cemetery today to try and find the grave of a Joseph Mitchell born c1829 in Long Acre, London. He took his own life by drowning himself in the Yarra on the 4 February 1904, aged 75. Unfortunately the paupers section he was buried in was resold and reused sometime in the 1950s. As such his exact grave location is lost. Attached are photos of the general area. According to the newspaper article from Trove, he joined the Royal Navy sometime in 1846. I am not skilled in finding older RN records. Interestingly, the cemetery register lists his name as Arthur Joseph Mitchell.
