Notes

Jacobs was afforded a substantial headstone in the cemetery, erected by his shipmates. It notes that he was a native of Aberystwith. Foster's transcription of 1901 notes the following verse: "Boast not to day/nor call to morrow thine/thou might be called away/by sudden death like mine". There is a note that the grave was relocated to "La Perouse" but the headstone has not survived. ref # 769
