Promoted to Chief MAA 1916-07-01. Promoted to Commissioned MAA 11921-07-01 Discharged from RMLI to join the RN on 06 Sep 1895 as ship's Corporal. Pensioned 21 Jun 1906 and joined the RFR. Lent to the RAN on 24 Feb 1913. Rated as Master-at-Arms. Joined HMAS Sydney (1) on 27 June 1913 as part of the commissioning crew and service in her until 04 Feb 1916. Promoted to Chief in 1916 and then Commissioned in 1921. Served at the Detention Quarters Garden Island, Sydney from 1916 until discharged ashore 03 March 1925, aged 55 years.
