died of brain fever buried at Williamstown VIC - could be one of these 3 conditions Encephalitis, an acute inflammation of the brain, commonly caused by a viral infection. Meningitis, the inflammation of the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord. Cerebritis, inflammation of the cerebrum. Buried in the same grave as John William Whiting (92). Like Whiting, Hicks is memorialised on the HMS Nelson monument in the Rookwood Cemetery (NSW) Old Church of England, Section DD, Row 8, grave 375-380
