Notes

In WW1, Macmillan served in the RANR and was one of six ratings who were in deployed in July 1915 to Fanning Island in the Pacific (per HMAS Encounter) to guard the wireless station on the island from German attack. Following discharge from the RANR, Macmillan attempted to enlist in the AIF but was not successful. See also Phillip Le Cornu #4984
