CMG. Former LEUT Navigator RN, retired physically unfit 25 Oct 1880. Joined RN 28 Mar 1861. 2IC China Contingent NSWNB. Not buried in Naval portion. Federation had taken place while Edward was in China a reorgnisation of the Naval forces saw men of Edwards age retired. His promotion to Captain was accordingly on retirement. War or War like service Boxer Rebellion 1901 also service in "suppressing the slave trade" on HMS Nassau.
