One of only two personnel in the RAN to be awarded a bar to the DSM in WWII. DSM For maintaining power from #1 Boiler Room in HMAS Napier during the Battle of Crete following a near miss that damaged the ship & Bar on HMAS Strahan in which ship he was with from commissioning.
