1911 Census has Chandler serving in HMS Pioneer as a 2nd Class Stoker. His WW1 attestation papers state that he has served in the "Imperial Navy for 2 years"
Lied about his age when he joined up for WW2. Stated that he was born in Picton in 1902 (retained the correct day and month). His death registration and the age of the grave confirm that this is the ex-RN Chandler born in Bathurst in 1892. Was a POW in WW2. Headstone has his WW2 service number (OAWG) and the AIF Rising Sun
