Served with the Royal Marine Brigade at Gallipoli. Saw action at Courtney's Post, and wounded by shrapnel in June 1915. Transferred to the Royal Marine Artillery and served in HS Repulse as part of the Grand Fleet July 1916-the end of the war. Took part in the Zeebrugge Raid. Served in WW2 in senior leadership positions.
